The Labour Party conference - 297a (e)

Actual image of the Labour Party Conference Breakfast this morning.

Labour faces the largest modernization of it's party ever attempted this weekend. If Shearer's leadership had not reached crisis point, much of the focus would be on the vast array of remits and policy ideas that have been in the slow cooker for the last 4 years.

I particularly like Labour adopting MANAs policy to lower the voting age to 16.

But let's be honest - the only focus is 297a (e). This will set the Caucus trigger for February next year. The push is for 40% by members to reflect the new 40-40-20, some party mandarins are trying to set it at 55%. There is already controversy because LECs are claiming it was set at a 50% to 55% range, not fixed at 55%.

It will be a fascinating conference and by the end of it we will know if there is any real possibility of a leadership challenge come February.

Tumeke will be at the conference and any details will be blogged asap.
