Israel’s founding neat for Palestinians

Alt Tv/Fleet FM Breakfast News
Israel’s founding neat for Palestinians
A school text book for Arab children in Israel has sparked an outcry among rightist Jews by including a reference for the first time to the Palestinian view of the Jewish state's founding as a "catastrophe". The book, designed for use in schools this year, is aimed at eight to nine-year-old Arab children in Israel's largely separate public school system. Arab citizens make up about a fifth of Israel's population of seven million. Seeing as 700 000 Palestinians fled or were expelled in 1948, I can’t see how describing the impact of the founding of Israel could be described as anything less than a ‘catastrophe’ for the Palestinian people. What do these right wing Israeli’s want to call it, ‘A walk in the park’ for Palestinians, “a pleasant day out” for Palestinians, ‘That day we lost the lot but won’t hold a grudge’ for Palestinians? Let them have their catastrophe, they are clearly living it.

Aside obviously from the fact that Israeli Arabs generally have better life expectancy and health stats compared to those living in surrounding countries...

of course Palestinians have a lower life expantancy, what do you expect with all the crap israel throws at them, with the classic words from the ehud himself about no aid going in to the country "let them go on a diet"

Hundreds are being killed.

We know how you hate war especially in that part of the world but you are silent. Why is that?

it is an appalling loss of life by factions who are so angry and hateful towards each other (4 decades of being a regfugee while home is under a brutal occupation tends to do that) that they simply kill the other thoughtlessly

... bomber have you ever wondered why those 'host' Arab countries have never extended citizenship to those Arabs that fled Israel/Palestine? I am not making excuses for Israeli actions of the past but there has to be a degree of responsibility on the part of Jordan, Syria and Lebanon as well.

Ok. Let's clear a few things up.

Nothing from you on the Palestinian vs Lebanese war ?
Just how misleading is that!!??
I assume you refer to the nahr el bared refugee camp that has been blasted by the Lebanese Army for that last month.
The fighting is not between Palestinians and Lebanese. It is between a militant organisation and the Lebanese Army. The poor refugees caught in the middle of it, made refugees a 2nd time.
The exact circumstances that led to the conflict are multifaceted, but most of the disquiet in Lebanon followed the Israeli assault, and the US power-plays (As it did in the 70s and 80s!).
The militant group fighting the Lebanese Army today is said to have been supported by US back Lebanese government officials. The intention was to built a militia capable of fighting Hezbollah, but they had a falling out with their masters, resulting in this disastrous conflict.

Google for articles by Seymour Hersh and Franklin Lamb for more on this.

why those 'host' Arab countries have never extended citizenship to those Arabs that fled Israel/Palestine?
...
Because they are assholes perhaps.
Because it would negate the right-of-return for those refugees, to return to their homeland.
Because it would weaken the struggle for justice after the 1948 nakba.

there has to be a degree of responsibility on the part of Jordan, Syria and Lebanon as well.
Golly gee that is helpful Anon. Those countries may have been responsible for less than 2% of the issue.

HbM - just because you've been to Israel doesn't mean you've seen the reality on the ground. Israel goes to great pains to hide that from visitors. Infact, you probably been fed distorted truths and outright lies in Israel.

Also. your just nuke'em comment suggests you're a 12 year old. Does your mummy know you read tumeke?

oh. and gwb... put your thinking hat on.
